We all know that when you have kids, taking time to take care of yourself as a mama isn't always a major priority. That's why we've decided to create the 5 Minutes for Mama series. Each week we'll give you five tips that will take less than 5 minutes to do on how you can look after yourself as a mother so that you can be your best self for your family. There will be a different theme for each week. This week we're looking at keeping your creativity alive as a mama.
1. Take an online course in something creative + learn while baba naps
Why not keep your creative juices flowing by learning something new and creative? This will take more than 5 minutes but it can be done when your baba naps or your kiddo is at school. We really like hand lettering courses at the moment and would suggest this one, which is run by a creative mama.
2. Colour in when your kid does
Find a fun and inspiring adult colouring book and use it when your kid is colouring in instead of just sitting alongside him. This will bring out your creativity while cultivating your kiddo's creativity too.
3. Take creative photos of your kiddos
They're with you 24/7 and you are probably taking photos of fun memories anyway, so why not try and step up your game and take some creative photos of your kiddos. Find some online tutorials like this one and boost your creativity.
4. Cook creatively
Why not up the ante with your daily cooking. Take 5 minutes to find some colourful and different recipes to make for your family. When you're done, dish it up and display it in a creative way.
5. Follow other creative mamas and be inspired
Take a few minutes to find some other creative mamas to follow on Instagram and let their journeys inspire you. We especially love Amanda Arneill, Pursuing Pie and A Spoonful of Faith.
Happy making, creating and arting!
