We all know that when you have kids, taking time to take care of yourself as a mama isn't always a major priority. That's why we've decided to create the 5 Minutes for Mama series. Each week we'll give you five tips that will take less than 5 minutes to do on how you can look after yourself as a mother so that you can be your best self for your family. There will be a different theme for each week. This week we're looking at organisation because when your environment feels like chaos so do your emotions.
1. Handbag
Take 5 minutes and empty out your handbag. Shake out all the dirt. Throw away all the trash and receipts you don't need. Put your makeup back into its pouch. Put all your pens and notebooks in a separate pouch. Clear out your purse and make sure only the cards you need are in it. Fold all cables neatly. Remove anything that you won't need daily.
2. Planner
Buy a planner that is big enough for your needs. Buy a special pen that you only use with your planner, preferably a black fineliner. Make a key to help you keep track of different things. Put all your events or activities in your planner when they come up. Review and add additional notes on a Sunday night. Go over your planner each morning, making sure you've got what you need for the day.
3. Wardrobe
This one may take a few 5 minute sessions, daily. Remove all the clothes from your wardrobe that you no longer like or wear and donate them. Buy one style/colour of hangers. Organise your wardrobe by type of clothing and colour for aesthetic and organisational purposes. Remove all your shoes from the bottom of your wardrobe and dust! Put your shoes back in, putting your most worn shoes at the front.
4. Medicine Cabinet
Remove all cosmetics, toiletries and medications. Wipe down your cabinet to clean where there may have been leakage. Throw away all expired cosmetics, toiletries and medications. Organise each shelf by product. Put all the hair products on one shelf, all the skincare ones on another, etc. Make sure to wipe down the cabinet every few weeks.
5. Bedside Table
Remove everything off the surface and from inside the drawers. Wipe them down. Dust your lamp. Put a pretty tray on top to hold all your goodies. You can also put a little bowl on top to hold all your jewellery that you take off. Only put things that you love and need on your bedside table, like hand cream, your alarm clock, your favourite book and a glass of water. Be sure not to overfill it. Keep all your nightly medications etc. inside your bedside drawer.
Happy organising!
