We all know that when you have kids, taking time to take care of yourself as a mama isn't always a major priority. That's why we've decided to create the 5 Minutes for Mama series. Each week we'll give you five tips that will take less than 5 minutes to do on how you can look after yourself as a mother so that you can be your best self for your family. There will be a different theme for each week. This week we're looking at self-care.
1. Take a relaxing bath.
Use a bath bomb, bring a book and light some candles for the ultimate mini spa experience that is cheap, relaxing and only takes 5 minutes to set up. We suggest running your bath during nap time so while baba sleeps, mama can relax.
2. Read a chapter of your favourite book.
This may take a little longer than 5 minutes but it is SO worth it. Pick up your favourite book from the library while your little one is having story time and then keep it in your handbag for those 5 free minutes between different appointments or school runs.
3. Stop comparing yourself to other mamas.
This is life changing and freeing. When you stop comparing yourself to other mothers then you realise just how well you're doing. You don't have to be mom of the year to be the best mama for your kiddo.
4. Take a 5 minute walk to the park and get some fresh air.
After spending the day indoors with your little one can be draining so why not take a refreshing walk to the park. If your little one is still tiny then sit with them on a park bench and enjoy the fresh air. If you have a kiddo, let them play in the playground and take 5 minutes for yourself.
5. Put on a face mask.
You can put on the mask and then do some task around the house or play with your little one. Warning: you may give your kiddo a fright. Then when 30 minutes are up you can rinse it off and go about your day with a silky smooth face.
Take care!
